Finding Hello Kitty?

One of my must sees at Epcot is the Mitsukoshi Department Store in the Japan Pavilion. I always find the most interesting items, it is an attraction onto itself. Don't let the title of this blog fool you. Hello Kitty can always be found here, but on this occasion I found an unique one.

How cute was this? Hello Kitty as a Florida alligator was stuffed among the Valentine Day's kitties. Hello Kitty was first developed in 1974 by artist Yuko Shimizu for the Japaneses company Sanrio. Her debut was on a vinyl coin purse.  It was not until 1976 that she appeared in the U.S.

If you have been to Epcot you have seen this Torii at the Japan Pavilion .  A Tori is a traditional Japanese arch used to mark the entrance to a sacred space. I have photographed this one here many times over the years. On this particular day the sky was a great blue and the crowds where quite.  I was able to stop and snap a few shoots without heads popping in the frame.

Bonsai Collection - Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival 2010

One of my favorite stops when visiting Epcot is the Japan Pavilion.  The are so many reasons I love walking around in this area on any given day.  During the Flower & Garden Festival the Bonsai are placed out on display.  Bonsai (盆栽 Japanese) (lit. tray cultivation) is the art of growing trees, or woody plants shaped as trees, in containers.  The are not difficult to grow, the just require care and patience, I use to had a few in my younger years and used them as the center pieces for our wedding reception.   Make sure you stop and appreciate these wonders trees.

Don't forget to walk around the whole pavilion and enjoy all of the great details in the landscape and architecture.
