The Nejjarine Fountain

In the courtyard you will found a replica of the Nejjarine Fountain in the city of Fez. The original is located at the place of Nejjarine at Bali.  Artists developed  this great  style of abstract design.

Did you realize you are experiencing small pieces of Moroccan culture

Favorite Photo Friday

One of my favorite places to wonder through and have a quite moment is in the Moroccan Pavilion.  Many visitors do not take the time to explore all the beauty.  Here is a The Fes house's courtyard which is typical for a Moroccan home.  How blue is that sky?

The Beautiful Seahorses

If you have been reading my blog for awhile you already know that I can spend a whole day in the Seas with Nemo & Friends. I get lost watching the activity in the aquariums. I am not just talking about the big one. Make sure you send some time visiting the small tanks to get a close up look at some amazing animals. On this day the Seahorses where enjoying a meal and putting on a great show.

There are 35 different species of seahorses, that range in size from 6 to 12 inches. They are a variety of colors like white, yellow, red, brown, black, grey spotted or banded. Their unusually appearance brings they such mystique. They have the head of a horse, the snout of a aardvark, spines like a puffer fish, the pouch of a kangaroo, eyes of a lizard, a monkey's tail and armor plated body of a stegosaurus. Come on don't you see it?

They can change colors rapidly. The tail will anchor them to some coral or seaweed. They do not actually swim but glide by use of their dorsal fin which beats 20 to 30 times a second.

Spend some time with this creatures and you will be enchanted.

Finding Mickey Mouse

Do you know were to find this Mickey? I have been trying to get a good photo of this one for years.  ere is a hint you have to take a boat tour in order to find it.

That's right board "Living with the Land" and get ready to spot a few hidden Mickeys. This one is in a test labs of the greenhouse. If you are not looking for it, is is very easy to miss.

Sunday's Silly Moments

Who has not been tempted to try this when visiting Epcot?
The angle could have been better, but the effect is still fun.
Jason can lift Spaceship Earth!

Captain America Merchandise at Epcot

When visiting the American Pavilion I noticed some unusual merchandise at one of the kiosks. Captain America had arrived. This is the first I have seen Marvel items for sale at Epcot, not really sure when they started selling them here.

In case you didn't remember Disney brought the rights to Marvel's catalog of characters back in 2009.

Saturday Snacks

Head over to the Rose and Crown at Epcot and order the Trio of United Kingdom Cheese. It is $9.99, but worth it.  We always try to order one new thing when we are at a WDW restaurant.

The plate includes a Cotswolds Cheddar, an aged Irish Cheddar and Stilton Blue. The accompaniments are an onion jam, fruit chutney, craisins with walnuts and small toast slices. To steal a word from Rachael Ray
Yumm-O. Try the recommended combinations first, then have fun mixing and matching the flavors.

I took this at last years annual Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival.  It was a beautiful afternoon.  I never miss going to this festival and recommend it to everyone.  Can't wait to see it this year.  The event will be held from March 7th through May 20th.

Finding Mickey Mouse

Taking a break at the Outpost between the China and Germany Pavilion, Jason decide to make some music. I did not notice until later that the drums made a perfect Mickey silhouette.

Finding Hello Kitty?

One of my must sees at Epcot is the Mitsukoshi Department Store in the Japan Pavilion. I always find the most interesting items, it is an attraction onto itself. Don't let the title of this blog fool you. Hello Kitty can always be found here, but on this occasion I found an unique one.

How cute was this? Hello Kitty as a Florida alligator was stuffed among the Valentine Day's kitties. Hello Kitty was first developed in 1974 by artist Yuko Shimizu for the Japaneses company Sanrio. Her debut was on a vinyl coin purse.  It was not until 1976 that she appeared in the U.S.

Food & Wine Festival Opens

Just gets your mouth drooling.  I was here on Wednesday (9/27).   I got to see everything set up, but not open yet.  Hope to be back before Nov. 13th to taste some of the yummy food.

Wondering around the Morocco Pavilion at Epcot I was happy to find this camel.  How cool is a camel that wears a Fez?  The Pavilion is designed to look like a Moroccan city, the country's government aided in the design. They also sponsor the pavilion, unlike the others which have corporate sponsorship.

I purposely took this photo from a low angle to make it seem like the camel was holding the lantern.  The lantern is actually hanging from the archway. I am really happy with the result.

Little know fun fact:  The Tower of Terror is visible at a certain angle from the Moroccan Pavilion.  The top of the Tower was designed to blend in Moroccan architecture, so it would not stand out.  Next time I am there I will try to see if I can photographic that.

Memories of the Dreamfinder

The Imagination Pavilion in Epcot has had a few reinventions over the years.  Most people remember Figment the Dragon.  However, I always found the breaded man in the purple suit to be entertaining.  I am among many fans who wish a version of the original Journey into Imagination ride would be brought back. At least I stumbled past this lone Dreamfinder T-shirt in MouseGears.

Give a listen and have fun with your imagination!

Hermit vs Horseshoe

My favorite place at Epcot is The Seas with Nemo and Friends.  I can spend an afternoon viewing all the different exhibits.  No matter how many times I visit, I always find something fascinating going on.

This time I came upon a hermit crab trying to show a horseshoe crab who's boss.  He never did get his point across, and could not shove the horseshoe out of his way.  The creatures of the sea have the same attitudes of some humans I know.

Saturday Snack - Salad on a Hot Day

On a hot day I love heading over to the Land to grab some food at Sunshine Seasons Food Court.  This Caesar Salad is very tasty.  The lettuce has always been fresh.  I do wish the chicken was served hot, but it still is a great dish to have for a refreshing snack.  Remember salad is a great healthy option as well.  Caesar dressing does make this one high in calories.

Finding Mickey Mouse

Where can you find this Hidden Mickey?  He is located over a door at my favorite shop in Epcot, MouseGears.  He is not that easy to see, look closely behind the beams to get a good view.

Saturday Snack - Birthday at Via Napoli

Celebrating a birthday at Disney is always fun.  We brought my mom to Via Napoli at the Italian Pavilion in Epcot.  Make sure you stop by customer relations to get a Birthday pin.  Every cast member will go out of their way to wish you a Happy B-Day.  Plus the restaurants, even most counter service ones will bring you a birthday snack with a song.  Here at Via Napoli, they brought over this little desert.  Cute, yes; tasty, no.  It was a plain cookie with a pile of whip cream on top.  The meal was so tasty, it was surprising this was not.  I know what do you expect for free.  Even a simple sugar cookie would have been better.  Love the thought, gesture and special Disney moment, but don't eat it.

During this spring's Flower and Garden show at Epcot, I was able to spend a few quite moments in the butterfly area.  I found this little caterpillar, enjoying some milk weed.
